Last year saw a lot of exciting new game titles. Here are two games which, while very different in gameplay and content, are both wildly popular.
High-rated PC Game: The Sims 3
The Sims 3 was one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2009. Although The Sims 2 was already incredibly engaging, The Sims 3 goes even further by adding features that make playing The Sims more like real life than ever before. There are more options to fully customize your Sims appearance and personality. There are more skills for your Sim to learn and develop, such as cooking, painting, writing, and guitar playing. Even the work aspect of The Sims is more realistic, as you now see your Sim traveling to work and dealing with bosses and co-workers rather than just disappearing from his or her house. Combined with the improved graphics and additional expansions, the Sims 3 promises to be even more addicting than its already popular predecessors.
PC Game Review: Plants vs. Zombies
This little causal game was a runaway success, spawning an Internet following with fans making Facebook quizzes and even writing fanfiction about it. Although it has a very simple storyline—defend your house against zombies—the idea of doing so using plants apparently struck a chord with many casual game players. Each plant has their own way of defending against zombies, and the trick is to know how to successfully use plants in fending off a zombie invasion. Zombies with their own strengths and weaknesses, different terrain (or, in the game’s case, different parts of your house), and the absence of presence or sunshine add to the challenge of strategy. This game gives hours of fun, and the cutely designed plants and amusingly rendered zombies add to the overall experience.
Hopefully, 2010 will give us more entertaining PC game titles like these two!
